Voluntary Building Assessment Scheme

The coverage of the VBAS is more extensive than that of the Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme (MBIS). The assessment of all buildings of any age under VBAS adopts one single set of assessment criteria which is divided into two parts covering 10 elements:

Building Safety Category - This category is related to building safety and follows the same requirements of the MBIS and MWIS (in respect of windows in common parts only).
Building Management Category - This category follows the requirements and standards designed to achieve the best practices in building management and maintenance.

Remarks:
*	Elements not covered by the MBIS & MWIS
#	The assessment results of UBWs will not affect the compliance of the award of VBAS certificate, except the UBWs are of obvious danger
